My one safety rule...

Safety is important, right? And I am sure you know I do risk assessments, know where the first aid kit is, and so on - you will have heard me do the "if there's ever a fire, the fire exits are HERE and HERE and the gathering place is in the car park..."
Keeping us safe on the dance floor is also why I wrote our Line Dance Etiquette page (if you haven't read that one yet, hop over there as soon as you've read this post, please. It's really important!)
But there's one rule I have that you'll hear me remind people about, often:
Never walk through a block of dancers. Always go around!
Now, I know how it is. You walk in the door and you want to get to your spot, just over there, maybe four yards away. You know it's only going to take a couple of seconds... but the problem is, the block of dancers might be moving at any moment, and what looks like a clear few steps is actually a dangerous gauntlet! One "shuffle back" that you didn't know was coming, you'll be on your way to A&E. If you could see the problem from the stage, I promise you would "get it"! So please, don't risk it. Always walk around.
I will remind you about this in class as well - please don't feel I'm getting at you or telling you off, I'm honestly just trying to keep you safe by making sure you know there's a hazard you might not have clocked.
Once you've read this blog post - please give it a like so I know it's reaching you?
Thank you!
