Going Viral!

This week, we participated in two events "out in the community" - dancing out in the real world, and both of these were SO much fun!

Last Saturday, we came together and performed a flash mob dance as part of the International Line Dance Flash Mob Community - dancers, all around the world, dancing the same dance on the same day. I've seen videos of dancers in Tasmania, Ontario (Canada), Latvia, Glasgow, and many other places, all having the time of their lives! And so did we - we played the music from my speaker, I started the dance, you all came to join me, we danced "Everybody dance!", cheered, and then split up again - all outside Boswell's cafe in the middle of Yate. It was brilliant!*

We had lots of people filming the event, and these are being turned into a polished video by Cas' brother in law, but in the meantime, I posted Matt's video of our flashmob to our facebook page, here:

To date, that video has received... 39 684 views. I'll just say that again - THIRTY NINE THOUSAND VIEWS! Holy Moly. I wasn't expecting it to go viral and I'm not sure how that happened!

I donated £50 to the Line Dance Foundation charity on our behalf, if you would like to know more about the international effort (and keep an eye on arrangements for next year, the link is here: https://linedanceflashmob.com/ next year's date is 8th May 2027... and Yate Shopping Centre have given outline permission again!)

Before I go, I just want to thank everyone who participated, and all of our supporters, who video-ed, cheered, and just gathered around! Also Maggie from the Yate Shopping Centre management team, security staff Kell and Will (who were brilliant - I was worried that we might have some members of the public who refused to move - so I really appreciated their support!) Matt, for the video that went viral, and Cas' brother-in-low Tom and nephew Alex, who must be spending hours editing the footage. What a team effort - THANK YOU EVERYONE!

PS - I don't know why I was so nervous - but I really was. Thank you all for participating - you make Laughter in Line the fun, supportive club that it is.
